Livonia, MI - In Partnership with the Detroit Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and The Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP), Allied Environmental Services, Inc. (Allied) is co-sponsoring a one-day seminar: "Great Lakes Region Infrastructure Resiliency: Building Stronger for our Communities, Employers, and Families" on 30 Oct 2013 in Livonia, Michigan. This will be the fifth in a series of nation-wide events focusing on regional and community infrastructure challenges associated with reducing impacts from man-made and natural disasters.

This program promotes dialogue between members of the engineering, infrastructure, architecture, emergency management, medical, construction, first responder, and community planning fields. Through a series of presentations and panel sessions, discussion will focus on public-private partnerships for enhancing infrastructure resilience, challenges and opportunities in regional emergency management, maritime resource protection and security issues prevalent to the Great Lakes region.

According to Sam Ansara, Allied Manager and SAME member, the seminar is an excellent opportunity to advance ideas, tactics and foster cooperation amongst regional leaders. Speakers will include Lt. Colonel Don Lauzon (Lauzon Consulting LLC), Lt. Jack Stewart (Michigan Emergency Management Coordinator), Brigadier General Mike Stone (Michigan Army National Guard), Joel Hogue (Elemental Services and Consulting), Kate Leese Burgess (Consumer Energy), Michael Donahue (URS) and Jason Bormouth (Corporate Spill Coordinator for Marathon Petroleum). “We are very excited to have such an outstanding list of experts speaking at this years’ event,” Ansara added.

Presentations will focus on infrastructure protection planning, lessons-learned from past disasters, advanced tactical planning and countermeasure implementation, and cyber-security planning. Alongside Allied, co-sponsors include the Michigan Homeland Security Consortium, and Schoolcraft College. The event will be located at the VistaTech Center at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.
